12th Annual Dreamers Conference
The 12th Annual Dreamers Conference is a free event for undocumented students and allies in the Contra Costa Community College District (4cd). The conference aims to provide information, resources, and support for dreamers to succeed in their academic and career goals. The conference will feature workshops, panels, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities.
The conference is hosted by Contra Costa College in partnership with Diablo Valley College and Los Medanos College. The conference will take place on March 7th, 2024 at Contra Costa College.

Aida Salazar
Award-winning author, arts activist, and translator
(She/Her) Aida Salazar is an award-winning author, arts activist, and translator whose writings for adults and children explore issues of identity and social justice. She was born in Mexico and grew up the middle child in a family of seven children in Southeast Los Angeles, where she developed a passion for storytelling and social change. She is the author of several critically acclaimed and award-winning books, including The Moon Within, Land of the Cranes, A Seed in the Sun, and Jovita Wore Pants. Her books have received numerous honors and distinctions, such as a Caldecott Honor, the Américas Award, the Tomás Rivera Children’s Book Award, the International Latino Book Awards, the NCTE Charlotte Huck Honor, the Jane Addams Peace Honor, and more.
She is also the editor of In the Spirit of a Dream, a picture book anthology that celebrates American immigrants of color through biographical poems and illustrations. Her story, By the Light of the Moon, was adapted into a ballet production by the Sonoma Conservatory of Dance and is the first Xicana-themed ballet in history. She is a founding member of Las Musas, a Latinx kidlit debut author collective. She lives with her family of artists in Oakland, CA, where she continues to write and advocate for the arts and social justice. To learn more about her work, visit her website.
