Veterans Day Celebration

We are pulling out all the stops for our first virtual Veterans Day Celebration!

At In Command: The Struggles and Victories of Women in Leadership, we’ll be spotlighting:

Charmain Bogue, Executive Director of Education Service for the US Department of Veterans Affair. Ms. Bogue oversees 2,000 employees, the management of $12BN in GI Bill education benefits, and various outreach initiatives designed to bolster the global visibility of education programs. She also serves on the national STEM Education Committee.

Rear Admiral Paula Campbell Brown, the first woman to command the Seabees in combat. She was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States.

Ty Brown, Navy veteran, policy analyst, former US Department of State foreign affairs officer, global security specialist and broadcasting professional.

Maureen Elias, Associate Legislative Director at Paralyzed Veterans of America, storytelling instructor with the Armed Services Arts Partnership and Director at High Ground Veterans Advocacy, a non profit organization that teaches veterans to become national veteran advocates.

Lieutenant Commander Doctor Leedjia Svec, former director of military programs for NASA, active duty US Navy and winner of multiple awards for her work championing diversity in STEM.

This event will be moderated by KTVU’s Leigh Martinez.
