Guest Lecture: Dr. Augustin Palacios on Latinx (Im)migration to the United States

This lecture will present an overview of the historical, social, and political context of Latino American immigration to the United States. A central argument of the lecture is that in order to fully understand Latinx immigration today, one needs to have a long historical perspective of the relationship between the US and Latin America, including of the many US interventions in the region. The lecture will also address some of the myths regarding Latinx immigration, and challenge some of the dominant views of immigration today.
