Dreamers Conference 2020: Empowering the Dream

Learn about opportunities and resources available for undocumented high school and college students, parents, educators and their allies through:

  • Workshops on topics like immigration rules and policies, scholarships, financial aid, entrepreneurship, stress management, family preparedness and other subjects that impact undocumented students. Some workshops will take place in both English and Spanish.
  • An undocumented resource fair.
  • A keynote presentation by Jose Antonio Vargas, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, and Tony-nominated producer. A leading voice for the human rights of immigrants, he founded the non-profit media and culture organization Define American, named one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. His best-selling memoir, Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen, was published by HarperCollins in 2018. Most recently, he co-produced Heidi Schreck’s acclaimed Broadway play What the Constitution Means to Me, which was nominated for two 2019 Tony awards, including “Best Play.”
  • A performance by poet Yosimar Reyes, who has been named one of 13 LGBT Latinos Changing the World” by The Advocate and one of “10 Up And Coming Latinx Poets You Need To Know” by Remezcla. Reyes is a LAMBDA Literary Fellow as well as the recipient of the Undocupoets Fellowship. He has previously served as Artist-in-Residence at the media and culture organization Define American. He has collaborated with Carlos Santana, and toured and presented at university campuses across the United States.
