CCC Celebrates African Heritage Month

The African American Staff Association marked African Heritage Month with a series of events celebrating African culture and its contributions to our community.

Events ranged from The Origins of African Heritage Month: Celebrating in a Virtual World, which focused on the vision of African Heritage Month founder Dr. Carter G. Woodson, to a Black College Expo.

“I was pleased with the widespread attendance from CCC, our entire district, and the larger community,” says Manu Ampim, chair of the AASA.

One highlight of the month’s events was the student-led Walk Through African History: Dispelling the Myths, which celebrated the historic achievements of Africans.

“There were over 230 people in attendance,” says Ampim, “and there was high praise from students, employees throughout the 4CD, and from various community members.”

Closing the month off was a drive-in-screening that gathered students, employees and community to watch the film, One Night In Miami.
