Zach Nelson has built a career centered on leadership, mentorship, and community impact. During his eight years as a high school basketball coach, he became known for building competitive, disciplined teams and guiding student-athletes toward success both on and off the court.

His coaching philosophy emphasized teamwork, accountability, and personal growth—values that helped many of his athletes reach the next level.In addition to coaching, Zach has served for two years as an Assistant Athletic Director at the high school level, where he played a key role in overseeing athletic operations, supporting coaches, and enhancing the student-athlete experience across multiple sports.

Expanding his influence beyond school athletics, Zach has spent three years working in the Youth, Community, and Engagement Division of the Sacramento Kings. There, he helped lead programs aimed at empowering underserved communities, organizing youth outreach events, and building partnerships that promoted education, wellness, and leadership through sports.Driven by a passion for using athletics as a tool for positive change, Zach continues to be a dedicated advocate for student – athlete development and community engagement at Contra Costa College.
