MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) at Contra Costa College (MESA CCC) is part of a statewide MESA program that helps first generation and low-income students majoring in calculus-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields who seek to transfer to a four-year institution and graduate with STEM degrees.

The program is a vibrant community of students, faculty and STEM professionals working together to empower our STEM students.

Our mission is to help students achieve success in STEM studies and careers and to see California’s STEM workforce reflect the diversity of its population.

Joining MESA at CCC will allow you to get access to benefits that include:

  • Access to dedicated MESA Study Center. This multipurpose center is the hub for study, meetings, workshops, and other academic activities.
  • Academic mentors in STEM fields and counselors
  • Tutoring and academic excellence workshops.
  • Program orientation in the beginning of each semester for students to learn about program offering, scholarships, internships, seminars, trips, etc.
  • Assistance in the transfer process. MESA CCC staff work collaboratively with the Transfer Center to provide transfer related information, workshops, and assistance.
  • Career advising. Students are exposed to different career options through contacts with industry mentors, field trips, job shadowing, career fairs and internship opportunities.
  • Links with student and professional organizations. These resources provide mentors, guest speakers and industry field trips.
  • Paid conferences for professional development. MESA students learn about work culture, interview skills, resume writing, and leadership skills offered by various STEM and leadership conferences.
  • Opportunities to participate in STEM-MESA Club, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) organization.
  • Participation in academic trips to universities, research labs, etc.
