Interested in how government works—or how to change it for the better? The Political Science program at Contra Costa College offers an in-depth look at the American political system, including the structure and processes of local, state, and federal governments.

You’ll explore political theory, policy-making, and the foundations of law while developing essential skills like critical thinking, persuasive communication, logical reasoning, and policy analysis. The program prepares you not only to understand political systems but also to actively engage with them.

Political Science is a great pathway to impactful careers in law, public administration, education, policy analysis, nonprofit leadership, political consulting, and more. Whether your goal is to shape public policy, advocate for social change, or pursue elected office, CCC helps you build a meaningful foundation for leadership and civic engagement.

Political Science is the study of power, government, and public policy—how decisions are made, who makes them, and how they affect society. It blends theory and real-world analysis to help us understand political institutions, civic responsibility, and the pursuit of justice in a democratic world.
