Nursing at Contra Costa College
Nursing is more than just a career — it’s a calling to care, to lead, and to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives. At CCC, our Nursing Program is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in healthcare through rigorous academics and real-world clinical experience.
You’ll learn to:

Our program leads to an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and prepares you to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN).
What is Nursing
Nursing is a healthcare profession focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities to help them achieve and maintain optimal health. Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, combining compassion with clinical expertise to provide holistic care.
Registered Nurses work in a variety of settings including:
- Military and government institutions
- Hospitals and clinics
- Schools and public health agencies
- Long-term care and rehabilitation centers
- Home healthcare

If you have prior experience or equivalent coursework, you may be eligible to challenge certain nursing classes. This option allows you to demonstrate your knowledge and potentially earn credit without taking the full course. Contact the Nursing Department for guidance on eligibility, procedures, and deadlines.

No Material Will Be Accepted After the Deadlines
A grade of 75% or better is required in each courses of the nursing program to progress and graduate.
Credit can be awarded for previous health knowledge and/or experience. Applicants who qualify for admission and are Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses or Licensed Psychiatric Technicians may apply for advanced placement. Advanced placement admission is based on space availability. For further information, call the Nursing Department office at 510.215.4103.
