Dean Singleton is a higher education professional with over ten years of combined experience in student and academic affairs with a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration. As a Student Affairs Administrator, Dean Singleton strongly believes that he has the ability to unify academic and student affairs divisions to enhance student engagement, maximize learning, and maintain sustainable programs. He takes pride in his ability to create professional working relationships across campus that promote student success and serve a diverse community.
Throughout his career he has held multiple positions in student services and has a thorough understanding of the student affairs division. He has managed and built budgets with restricted funding, managed staff, and faculty, program development, as well as departmental and divisional strategic planning and organization.
Before joining Contra Costa College, Dean Singleton supported academic affairs as an Instructional Associate Dean at Berkeley City College. He managed the operations of the learning communities on campus, the adult education transition program, enrollment support for various K-12 and Community Based Organization partners, as well as budget and administrative duties related to instructional support programs. He managed and supported an efficient team of counseling and instructional faculty, a transition liaison, staff assistants, multiple counseling interns, and student assistants to successfully execute the instructional support programs.
Throughout his career, he has been responsible for modifying student service processes, procedures and ensuring the success of the students on campus. His student services responsibilities included overseeing the student body clubs, academic advising, Title IX Investigator, SEVIS Designated Student Officer (DSO), incoming student orientation, student registration, supervision of graduate students and work-study students, website content management. He also has experience overseeing the entire admission process including marketing, recruitment, publication development, program budget development, and supervision of students.
As Director a Director of Campus Life, he was the administrator responsible for the oversight of student leadership development and civic engagement, Graduation, student activities, the primary advisor to the associated student government and clubs, as well as encouraging extra-curricular and co-curricular student engagement.
Dean Singleton’s administrative experience in both the Campus Life and the Associate Dean roles have prepared him for success as an administrator who can support both faculty and student support programming while balancing the interests of all constituents. As a higher education professional, he understands the nuances of developing and implementing specialized student support strategies as well as administrative procedures.
