Contra Costa College and the Foundation Welcome New President Dr. Robinson-Cooper

Contra Costa College (CCC) is thrilled to announce that Dr. Tia Robinson-Cooper is the 14th permanent president of CCC.

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Tia Robinson-Cooper to the Contra Costa Community College District as the next president of CCC,” said Chancellor Bryan Reece. “She has proven commitment to increasing student success outcomes and fostering an environment of equity and inclusion. We look forward to her leadership.”

Most recently serving as the provost and vice president of academic affairs and chief academic officer at Inver Hills Community College, Dr. Robinson-Cooper brings a breadth of experience in her accomplished career in higher education. A community college graduate, Dr. Robinson-Cooper earned her A.S. degree in business from Kishwaukee College, a B.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Illinois University, a M.B.A. and M.S. in Managerial Leadership and Organizational Development from National Louis University, and an Ed.D. in Counseling and Adult Higher Education from Northern Illinois University.

“Now more than ever, CCC’s mission matters,” shared Dr. Robinson-Cooper. “The pandemic and social unrest have amplified the importance of public higher education. As a college serving a diverse student body, our work is more critical than ever.”

Dr. Robinson-Cooper is prioritizing stabilizing and increasing CCC’s overall student enrollment, retention, persistence, and completion; developing new partnerships across all sectors of the West County community; and embracing a forward-thinking organizational culture that prioritizes the current public health crisis and racial and social justice.

Most notably, Dr. Robinson-Cooper is ready to hit the ground running, “I look forward to collaborating with CCC faculty and staff to ensure that Contra Costa College remains one of the most student-centered, student-ready, equity-minded, and data-informed community colleges in the nation.”
