About Scholarships

Scholarships are a financial resource provided to students by the generosity of the CCC Foundation, local businesses, community groups, alumni, and a variety of other private donors. Scholarship funds help to assist students in paying for their higher education expenses when federal and state financial assistance is not enough. Unlike loans, scholarship funds do not have to be paid back! The Contra Costa College Office of Financial Assistance encourages all students to apply for scholarship opportunities!

Scholarship funds are limited and usually awarded on a competitive and/or special criteria basis, such as GPA, academic major, or demonstrated volunteerism, leadership, or community service. Because scholarships are a private educational resource, selections for recipients are usually made by the donor/organization based on these types of criteria.

Types of Scholarships

Scholarships are considered either “CCC Scholarships” or “External Scholarships.” “CCC Scholarships” are scholarships offered by the CCC Foundation specifically for CCC students, while “External Scholarships” offers a listing of various other scholarship opportunities offered by outside organizations. For more information on “CCC Scholarships” and “External Scholarships,” click the appropriate link from the menu to the left.
