| Leadership |
MCHS's Leadership is a class of students who represent the student body of Middle College High School. Leadership organizes the student body activities for the high school, such events as Fall and Spring Rally and the All-School Prom. The class consists on an average of 40 determined and dedicated students along with a system of government comprised of a president(s), vice president, secretary, treasurer, moderator, and members. Each role of the government official differs in responsibilities where as the President(s) leads the class, VP assists the President(s) in running the meeting. The secretary keeps records all the meeting minutes and the Treasurer keeps the classes informed of their total account balances and also deals with Leadership/class money. The Moderator, Steve Hoffman, is one of MCHS's instructors that facilitates and guides every Leadership student into becoming more productive leaders for today's tomorrow. And last but not least, are the class members; they are the most important piece of the leadership class because if it was not for their hard work and dedication, it would be difficult for events/activities to take place. | Yearbook |
A self-selected multi-grade group of students create the annual yearbook while enrolled in Computer Graphics coursework at the community college. The college professor guides them through the myriad of technical roles and responsibilities in creating a quality product within time and budget limitations. Students raise funds from the community to support the publication. |
| After School Tutoring |
MCHS Teachers and college trained tutors provide individual and small group study help for all MCHS students four days a week after school in ELA, Math, Science, and social Studies from 3:00pm - 5:00pm. Students who are below grade level in performance are required to attend so they can receive extra instruction in their areas of difficulty, but all students who would like additional support are welcome to join a group. In addition to course materials, students have access to Agile Mind software for Math in the Labs. |
| The Write Team |
A group of MCHS seniors and juniors share their writing skills by peer-editing and suggesting ways to improve all genres of writing. The services of this group are available to all Middle College students and cover all core curricular areas. |
| Empowerment Through Action (ETA) |
Students of all grades meet after school to discuss social issues effecting their lives. Approximately 25 students participate in this activity. ETA is sponsored by the Contra Costa County Human Development Department. They have been involved in such activities as bringing to the San Pablo City Council the need to enforce the laws governing the sell of tobacco in local stores. This has been a very successful program receiving recognition from government agencies and newspapers. |
| Recycling |

Students go about the college ona scheduled basis and gather paper for recycling. The city sanitation department awarding the MCHS students $1000 each year for the past few years can evaluate the success of the program. |
