The Reference Desk (also called the Information Desk) is the best place to go when you have questions about using the library or finding information. A librarian is on duty at this desk during the library's open hours.
Librarians are information professionals; they have training and experience in how information is organized, how to perform searches, and in assisting library users. They are the best resource to use when you have questions about using the library or finding the exact information you need. Even if you already know how to find your way about a library, a librarian may be able to help you locate additional sources and/or steer your search in a more productive direction. |
Some ready-reference questions can be answered over the phone; call the Reference Desk during the library's open hours at (510) 235-7800 x4450. If the desk is busy or your question is more complex, you may have to wait for a return call, or be asked to come to the library for in-person assistance.
