CHECKOUT INFORMATION
HOLD REQUESTSYou may place your own REQUEST/HOLD on a circulating book via the online catalog. This is a good idea if you are doing your research from off-campus and want to make sure that a book you want to use will be available for you to check out when you get to the Library. You can use this same process to request circulating books from DVC and LMC, too (takes approximately 2 working days to arrive).Click on the REQUEST/HOLD button shown at the top of the full record display (you must be using the web version of the
online catalog).
INTERLIBRARY LOANBooks that are not available at CCC may be available via interlibrary loan (ILL) from one of the other colleges in our district (Diablo Valley College and Los Medanos College). ILL from other libraries is not available. You may place your own REQUEST/HOLD to have a circulating book sent from DVC or LMC via the online catalog. The book will be sent by campus mail and held at the Circulation Desk for pickup when it arrives (usually within 2 working days). The checkout period is usually the same as if it belonged to CCC. LOST MATERIALSLost items will be billed at current list prices, where possible. The replacement cost for a magazine will be $5. The bill for a lost book will be the list price plus a $10 replacement fee plus a $10 processing fee. A lost telecourse video will be billed at $35. OVERDUE FINE MAXIMUMFines accumulate to a maximum amount. For a book, this amount is $10; for a magazine or pamphlet, it is $5; for a telecourse video, it is $35 per tape ($5 maximum per tape per day). RENEWALSYou may renew materials in person at the Circulation Desk, by phone (510-235-7800 x4318), or online through the Library's OPAC. Once an item is overdue, it may only be renewed in person at the Circulation Desk. REQUEST A SEARCHIf you can't find a book on the shelf:
RESERVE MATERIALSThe Reserve collection consists of materials that instructors have placed on "reserve" for students to use in the library for short periods of time. It includes textbooks, lab manuals, solution guides, article reprints, old tests, personal books belonging to instructors, telecourse programs, and me reference materials. See Checkout Chart for loan periods. TELECOURSE PROGRAMSCHECKOUT FOR HOME VIEWING: Students who are enrolled in a CCC telecourse may check out program tapes to watch at home from the Reserve collection at the Circulation Desk. These are the ONLY videos that check out of the library.
IN-LIBRARY VIEWING: The telecourse programs are also available for viewing in the Media Lab. These tapes do not circulate outside of the library. Check the online collection catalog for availability. VIDEO RENTAL: If you want to rent an entire series for the whole semester, call ACT Media at (800) 745-5480. Be aware that not all telecourse series may be available. The current cost is around $35-55, plus postage and handling. These fees are non-refundable.
