Library Mission
The CCC Library's mission
is to actively support the teaching and learning process by
providing learning resources, instructional technology and services relevant to
the educational needs, personal growth and cultural enrichment of the CCC
community.
Librarians
and library staff will work with other faculty, staff, administrators and
students to expand information competency and critical thinking, intellectual
independence and skills relevant to life-long learning and gainful employment
for all students.
 |
Circulation Services - Library patrons (including CCC faculty and staff)
need a
bar-coded campus ID card for the current semester/year to check materials out of the
library. Go to the Associated Students Union Office to obtain your campus ID
card.
ALTERNATIVES: If a student does not have his/her
student ID card at the time of checkout, the student may show a current photo ID (such as
a driver's license) PLUS a registration printout for the current semester. If the
student does not have the printout or know his/her identification number, he/she will need
to fill out a Student ID Number Verification Form.
CCC retirees, alumni, and
community members may obtain
borrowing privileges by joining the Friends of the Library.
See the Circulation Services page for more information.
|
 |
Disabled Student Services - The
Library provides specialized assistance and equipment for users who have a
physical or learning disability that limits independent use of the library.
See the
Disabled Student Services page for more information.
|
 |
Library Privileges at CSU-East Bay - Currently enrolled students at CCC, DVC,
LMC and other Bay Area community colleges may obtain a library card to check out
books from California State University, East Bay . Interested students will need
to show a valid photo ID card from their community college and fill out a
borrowers agreement. Books will not be sent via Interlibrary Loan - users will
need to go to the CSU-East Bay Library to pick up and return books. Please note
that some services may be restricted. See
Library Privileges for CSU-East
Bay for more information.
|
 |
Media
Services - The Library provides
audiovisual equipment for instructor use in the classrooms and maintains the
instructional Media Lab where students may use videos and other non-print
programs as directed by their instructors and/or research needs. See the
Media Services page for more information.

Research Assistance
 |
Librarians are available at the Reference Desk during the
Library's open hours to help students, faculty and staff use the Library effectively and
find the information they need. Librarians have expertise in research techniques, database
searching and information sources; consult them when you need help. Some question may be
answered over the phone; others may require in-person assistance.
