Contra Costa College is the lower division college of choice for many students interested in transfer to an upper division college or university. CCC is a stepping stone for students interested in transfer to the University of California or one of the many California State University campuses. Students also transfer to private four-year colleges and historically black or minority colleges.
Attending CCC for your freshman and sophomore years is a great strategy for admission to UC and CSU as a junior. Over 30% of students currently attending the University of California are transfer students from community colleges. The California State University enrolls two community college transfer students for every one first time college student.
The High Schools and the College
CCC has a strong, cooperative relationship with West Contra Costa Unified School District and with John Swett Unified School District. If you are interested in taking CCC classes while still in high school, principals and counselors from your high school can assist you with enrolling in classes at CCC. The college is also the home of WCCUSD’s Middle College High School, and there are about 320+ high school students on the college campus.
