SUMMER LOAN APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 


STEP ONE: Visit the Office of Financial Assistance to get pre-screened for a Loan Appointment OR, beginning 6/1/15, call (510) 215-6026. Once pre-screened and determined potentially eligible for a Direct Student Loan, you will be given an appointment to meet with a loan specialist. Please bring a picture ID to your appointment.


STEP TWO: Complete the DIRECT LOAN ONLINE ENTRANCE COUNSELING AND the ELECTRONIC MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE at www.studentloans.gov

**Attention Continuing Students**

A new Master Promissory Note & Online Entrance Counseling is required each academic year.NO EXCEPTIONS


 STEP THREE: Complete ONE USA FUNDS WEB-BASED DEBT MANAGEMENT LESSON at www.lifeskills.org (OPTIONAL)

(Note: You will need the following information: School Code 00119000 & Student Access Code 00119000-01. If you previously had a log-in account with USA Funds, you are required to request a new account. This web-site is a new USA Funds platform and all pre-existing log-in accounts have been disabled.)

STEP FOUR: Submit the completed Summer Direct Loan Request Form AND a full Educational Plan approved by your counselor and archived in INSITE PORTAL/WEBADVISOR.  NO WRITTEN EDUCATIONAL PLANS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If you are enrolled in classes NOT on your educational plan, you will be required to provided and UPDATED educational Plan. Please submit the form to the Office of Financial Assistance by the loan documentation deadline of Wednesday, July 1st 2015, for the check mail date requested. (PLEASE SEE SUMMER 2015 LOAN PAYMENT CALENDAR BELOW).

**Once your Direct Loan has been awarded, you will receive an award notification email**​

Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP-Stafford Loan)

If you have previously taken out a FFELP Stafford Loan from our institution and would like to find information about your loan account, repayment options and much more, please use the same contact information listed above under the Direct Loan Program. All FFELP Stafford loans have been converted to Direct Loans and sold to the Department of Education.


Direct Loan Exit Counseling

If you have taken out a Direct Loan and plan to graduate May of the current academic year or have already graduated from Contra Costa College, you are required to complete the Online Direct Loan Exit Counseling. During your exit counseling, you will be provided with information on the different repayment plans, deferment and forbearance options and much more!
