DIRECTIONS TO CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE
MAIN CAMPUS
From the North – Hwy. 4/I-80 (Sacramento, Martinez, Pinole):
  1. Take Hwy. 4 west to I-80.
  2. Take I-80 West toward Oakland.
  3. From I-80, take the Hilltop Drive Exit (west/right).
  4. Once on Hilltop Drive, get into the left lane. Go through the first stoplight (Blume Drive) to the second stoplight, where you will see an Oil Changers on the left. This is Shane Drive.
  5. Turn left onto Shane Drive. After the first stop sign, you will continue about a mile through a residential area, to Mills Avenue, which is the street at the stop sign at the bottom of the hill, in front of the church.
  6. Turn right onto Mills Avenue, then left into the college parking Lot 9.
  7. You may purchase a daily permit for $2.00 (quarters only) from the red ticket machine in the middle of Lot 9. Park in spaces NOT marked Staff.

From the West (San Francisco) or from the South (Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond):

  1. Follow I-80 East toward Sacramento, past Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond.
  2. Take the El Portal Drive exit. At the end of the off-ramp there is a stoplight. Turn left and go under the freeway to a second stoplight.
  3. Go through that second stoplight and continue for about half a mile, through a third stoplight to a fourth stoplight. This will be Fordham Drive.
  4. Turn right onto Fordham Drive into a residential area. Continue on Fordham Drive to the second stop sign, which is at a T-intersection.
  5. Turn left onto Shane Drive.
  6. Stay on Shane Drive about two blocks to Mills Avenue, which is the first street on the left, at a stop sign, between a large college parking lot and a church.
  7. Turn left onto Mills, then left again into Parking Lot 9, which is the lot immediately to your left.
  8. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $2.00   (quarters only), at the red machine in the middle to Lot 9. Park in spaces NOT marked Staff.

If you are going to a building on the other side of the campus from Lot 9 (i.e. Fireside Room in the SA building, Admissions or Counseling in the Humanities Building, testing in the LA building), you might want to park in Lot 10 instead of Lot 9.

In that case, follow the directions above to El Portal Drive, but do NOT turn right onto Fordham Street. Continue on El Portal Drive through two more stoplights. Across from the new housing complex and shopping center, turn right onto Castro Street ( the college Performing Arts Center is on the corner). Follow it as it curves around past the armory on your right and the gym/swimming pool complex. on your left. Lot 10 is at the end on your left.

Library Drive in the middle of the campus is closed to through traffic.

From the East (Walnut Creek, Concord, Lafayette):

  1. Take Hwy 24 West, toward Oakland.
  2. From Hwy 24, take the Orinda exit, stay to the right and follow the signs toward Richmond.
  3. Stay on Camino Pablo through Orinda, past the reservoir and into El Sobrante. (Camino Pablo becomes San Pablo Dam Road by the reservoir.) Continue on San Pablo Dam Road through the shopping district of El Sobrante, to the stoplight at El Portal Drive (there’s a Shell gas station on the right).
  4. Turn right onto El Portal Drive. Stay on El Portal Drive and go under the freeway, through the stoplight to a second, third and then fourth stoplight, which will be at Fordham Street.
  5. Turn right onto Fordham Street into a residential area.
  6. Continue on Fordham to the second stop sign, which is at a T-intersection. Turn left onto Shane Drive.
  7. Go about two blocks to Mills Avenue, which is the first street on the left, at the stop sign, between a large college parking lot and a church.
  8. Turn left onto Mills, then left again into Parking Lot 9, which is the lot immediately to your left.
  9. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $2.00  (quarters only), at the red machine in the middle to Lot 9. Park in spaces NOT marked Staff.

From the West (over the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge):

  1. After you have crossed the bridge, take the Castro Street exit from I-580 East and follow the signs for the Richmond Parkway. Follow the Richmond Parkway for several miles, all the way to San Pablo Avenue (a stoplight intersection).
  2. Turn right onto San Pablo Avenue. Follow San Pablo Avenue for about a mile and a half, down the hill, to the fourth stoplight. This will be El Portal Drive; there should be a MacDonalds on the corner.
  3. Turn left onto El Portal Drive. Go past the first quick left, past the college’s baseball field on the left, and a housing development on the right. The next street on the left will be Castro Street; the Knox Center for the Performing Arts is on the corner. Turn left onto Castro Street.
  4. Follow Castro Street as it curves past the National Guard Armory on the right, and the swimming pool and gym complex on the left. Parking Lot 10 is in front of the gym.
  5. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $2.00  (quarters only) from the red machine near the gym.

If you are going to the administration offices, the Three Seasons Cafe, or the child Care Center, you will want to park in Lot 9, behind the receiving building.

In that event, follow the directions onto El Portal Drive, but do NOT turn left at Castro Street near the campus. Keep going on El Portal to the third stoplight, which is at Fordham Street. Turn left onto Fordham, through a residential area. Go about four blocks to the second stop sign, which is a T intersection.

Turn left onto Shane Drive, and drive about two blocks to the stop sign at Mills Avenue. Turn left onto Mills (between the parking lot and a church). and turn left again into Parking Lot 9. There is a daily parking Machine in the middle of the lot.

From the Oakland Airport:

  1. From the airport, follow the signs for I-880 North (West) toward Oakland/San Francisco. Get onto I-880 toward Oakland.
  2. Stay on I-880 until you see signs for I-80, San Francisco or Berkeley/Sacramento. Follow the signs for Berkeley/Sacramento I-80 East. (I-80 west will take you over the bridge to San Francisco, and you don’t want to go there).
  3. Follow I-80 East toward Sacramento, past Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond. Take the El Portal Drive exit; it’s the next exit after San Pablo Dam Road. At the end of the off-ramp, there is a stoplight. Turn left and go under the freeway to another stoplight. Keep going straight through (about half a mile). There will be two more stoplights; at the second light, you’ll turn right onto Fordham Drive, into a residential area. (You can only turn right at Fordham; there is a wooded area on the left, just about a block past a Shell station.)
  4. Go to the second stop sign , which is a T-intersection. Turn left onto Shane Drive. Go about two blocks to Mills Avenue, which is the first street on the left at the stop sign, between a large college parking lot and a new church. Turn left onto Mills, and then left again into parking Lot 9, which is the lot immediately to your left. You may purchase a daily parking permit for $2.00 ( quarters only).

To the Oakland Airport from CCC:

  1. From the campus, go out on Mills avenue by Lot 9.
  2. Turn right at the stop sign onto Shane Drive.
  3. At the first street on your right, turn right onto Fordham. Go ahead on Fordham to the stoplight.
  4. Turn left onto El Portal Drive, and get into the right lane. Right onto I-80. The freeway entrance is on the right, just past the Shell station.
  5. Once on I-80, stay on the freeway past Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, toward Berkeley.
  6. Once you see signs for University Avenue in Berkeley, and Ashby or Powell, get into Second lane from the left.
  7. At the split just past Powell Street in Emeryville, where the right lanes go to San Francisco/ Bay Bridge, Follow the signs for I-880 Oakland/San Jose, which goes straight when the rest go left.
  8. Exit at Heggenberger Road/Oakland Airport (it’s right after the Coliseum exit). Heggenberger goes through a small business district. Immediately after you exit, you will want to move one lane to the left to avoid another right turn only lane. stay there, and the road goes right into the airport.
  9. Watch the signs for the terminal you want (1 or 2) or the rental car return.
