JAPAN 100- Topics in Japanese .5-4 units: lecture and/or laboratory hours, SC, DG This is a supplemental course in the Japanese language arts designed to provide a study of various topics, to be announced each term in the current course schedule. This course may be repeated three times. Note: normally offered in the Fall and Spring
JAPAN 110- Conversational Japanese I 3 units: 3 hours lecture, SC, DG This is a beginning course in communication with extensive oral practice in Japanese and a study of the Japanese culture. Emphasis will be placed on practical vocabulary, pronunciation, idiomatic usage and basic grammar for both daily life and the business world. This course is not designed for native speakers of Japanese. This course may be repeated one time. JAPAN 111- Conversational Japanese II 3 units: 3 hours lecture, SC, DG This is the second part of a beginning course in communication with extensive oral practice in Japanese and a study of the Japanese culture. JAPAN 120- First Semester Japanese 5 units: 5 hours lecture, SC, DG This is a first-semester Japanese course. The goals are to communicate in Japanese through the development of skills in speaking, understanding, reading and writing, and to develop an appreciation of Japanese culture. JAPAN 120A- First Semester Japanese -A 3 units: 3 hours lecture, SC, DG This is the first part of a first-semester Japanese course whose content extends over two terms. The goals are to communicate in Japanese through the development of skills in speaking, understanding, reading and writing, and to develop an appreciation of Japanese culture. JAPAN 120B- First Semester Japanese -B 3 units: 3 hours lecture, SC, DG This is the second part of a first-semester Japanese course whose content extends over two terms. The goals are to communicate in Japanese through the development of skills in speaking, understanding, reading and writing, and to develop an appreciation of Japanese culture. JAPAN 298- Independent Study .2-4 units: SC, DG Prerequisite: educational contract of study signed by an instructor, department chair and college dean. Topics must extend beyond regular course offerings. This course is designed for selected students to pursue independent study in Japanese under the direction of an instructor.
