HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCIES: Two years of high school study in one foreign language (not including junior high school courses) qualify a student to enter the second term (courses numbered 121). Three years of high school study qualify a student to enter the third term (courses numbered 220), and four years for entering the fourth term (courses numbered 221). Please consult a foreign language instructor for specific interpretation.

FRNLG 100- Topics in Foreign Language

.5-4 units: lecture and/or laboratory hours, SC, DG

This supplemental course in foreign language provides a study of various topics, to be announced each term in the current course schedule. This course may be repeated three times.

FRNLG 103- Foreign Language Laboratory

.1-3 units: .3-9 laboratory hours, CR/NC, ND

This course is designed for students who wish to improve or maintain their foreign language skills through the use of computer assisted instruction, audio-visual materials and supplemental print materials. With instructor assistance and supervision, learning contracts will be designed to address students' individual needs and goals. Students do not need to be concurrently enrolled in foreign language class.

FRNLG 298- Independent Study

.2-4 units: SC, DG

Prerequisite: educational contract of study signed by an instructor, department chair and college dean. Topics must extend beyond regular course offerings.

This course is designed for selected students to pursue independent study in Foreign Language under the direction of an instructor.
