The State requires that you enter the exact number
of hours that a student was in class each day. Thus, if a student was
an hour late, or left a couple of hours early, the true number of
hours that he/she was in class should be recorded.
Remember: Students enrolled in a NON-CREDIT course
receive Positive Attendance hours ONLY; they do not get grades.
Definition
What determines a positive attendance course? The following is a summary listing of course types that meet the definition from the State Accounting Manual:
- Credit courses scheduled to meet fewer than five days.
- Credit courses scheduled irregularly with respect to the number of days of the week and the number of hours the course meets on the scheduled days.
- Open Entry/Open Exit courses. The term "open entry/open exit courses" refers to courses in which students may enroll at various times, which students may complete at various times or at various paces, and for which students may receive varying credit. Open entry/open exit courses may be conducted with or without regularly scheduled hours.
- In-Service Training courses. Such credit courses, regardless of length, for police, fire, corrections and other criminal justice system occupations.
- All specified noncredit courses.
- Apprenticeship classes of related and supplemental instruction.
- Such noncredit courses of individual student tutoring.
