HOW TO APPLY AND ENROLL Follow steps 1-5 listed below:

This site contains important information that will help you successfully complete the enrollment process at Contra Costa College.

• Step 1 – Complete Admissions Application (H42)
  You must file an Application for Admission with the Office of Admissions and Records (Humanities Building, Room 42) OR online www.cccapply.com PRIOR to taking the assessment and attending orientation.
  
  *If you are attending K-12 grades, you will be required to obtain written approval from the K-12 school you are currently attending before you are allowed to enroll in classes. Fill out concurrent enrollment form and Internet Use Agreement.

• Step 2 – Complete Assessment (H21)
  Assessment of new students is required in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Contra Costa College uses COMPASS, a computerized assessment for placement into English, reading, and math courses. The test is un-timed and is only open to students who have submitted their application and intend to enroll at Contra Costa College. COMPASS is available to take on a drop-in basis at the college Assessment Center, for dates please check with the Counseling Center (510) 235-7800 4255. Please allow two hours to complete the COMPASS assessment. If you are a student whose native language is NOT English, you are encouraged to take the ESL (English as a Second Language) Assessment.

• ESL Test Dates
  The Assessment Center offers an assessment by Appointment Only for students whose first language is not English. It is necessary to make an appointment for the test. Soon after the test, students meet individually with ESL instructors to discuss their levels and class schedules. Call (510) 235-7800 ext 4416 to reserve your spot.

• Step 3 – Complete On-line Orientation
  Orientation is designed to provide you with a wealth of information on Contra Costa College policies, procedures, programs, and support services that will assist you in setting up a path to success. The Orientation takes approximately one hour. You are required to print a certificate to verify your successful completion of the on-line orientation and answer a few questions.  The verification must be hand delivered to Counseling Department (H-40) or faxed to (510) 235-5819.

• Step 4 – Sign-up to meet with a Counselor (H40)
  During the counseling session you will receive the results of your COMPASS assessment, learn how to use the catalog and course schedule to plan your classes, and a counselor will assist you with selecting appropriate courses for the upcoming term. During the winter intersession all counseling will be conducted in a group format. All new students must complete steps 1 thru 3 prior to meeting with a counselor.

• Step 5 – Complete Registration (On-line and Telephone)
  New students must complete steps 1 thru 4 (unless exempt) prior to enrolling in classes. Registration can be completed by calling the automated telephone registration system available from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m at (925) 370-9100, or online at www.contracosta.edu, and click on Web Advisor. See schedule of classes for enrollment dates and further information.

• Important Notes about Assessment and Orientation
  • Seating is limited for the COMPASS assessment and Orientation sessions and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early for the Orientation session to sign-in and receive materials. No one will be admitted into the room after the Orientation begins. Childcare is not provided. Please do not bring children with you to any of the sessions.
  • Campus parking regulations are enforced Monday-Friday during regular terms. If you plan to park on campus during this time, you may purchase a daily parking permit for $2.00 (eight quarters) to park in any student lot.

• Campus Tour
  Campus tours are offered by the Student Life Center. For more information about tour dates and times, please call the Student Life Center at (510) 235-7800 extension 4237. Tours will only take place if there are sign-ups at least 24 hours in advance and they are not given during rainy weather.

   

• ESL Test Dates

• Matriculation Exemptions
  All new students working toward a degree, certificate or transfer, or are undecided about their career goals are expected to participate in the matriculation process (assessment, orientation, and counseling/program planning) unless exempt as noted below.
  • You have completed at least 15 units of coursework at another college and have taken English and math courses (must provide transcript).
  • You hold an Associate Degree or higher.
  • You are taking 6 units or less of coursework with no prerequisites, and for personal enrichment only.
  • You have completed the matriculation process at another college and you wish to waive your right to participate. Waiver forms are available through the Office of Admissions and Records or the Counseling Center, and must be signed by appropriate college personnel.
