HOW TO APPLY AND ENROLL

This site contains important information that will help you successfully complete the enrollment process at Contra Costa College.
Step 2 – Complete Assessment (H21)
Assessment of new students is required in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Contra Costa College uses COMPASS, a computerized assessment for placement into English, reading, and math courses. The test is un-timed and is only open to students who have submitted their application and intend to enroll at Contra Costa College. COMPASS is available to take on a drop-in basis at the college Assessment Center, for dates please check with the Counseling Center (510) 235-7800 4255. Please allow two hours to complete the COMPASS assessment. If you are a student whose native language is NOT English, you are encouraged to take the ESL (English as a Second Language) Assessment.
ESL Test Dates
The Assessment Center offers an assessment by Appointment Only for students whose first language is not English. It is necessary to make an appointment for the test. Soon after the test, students meet individually with ESL instructors to discuss their levels and class schedules. Call (510) 235-7800 ext 4416 to reserve your spot.
