2010 Talbots Scholarship
Talbots Scholarship Foundation will award $180,000 in college scholarships for the 2010 academic year, including up to 10 $15,000 scholarships and one $30,000 scholarship to an extraordinary finalist demonstrating courage, conviction and an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit.

 

Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program
Foreclosure.com just launched an essay contest for college students and incoming freshmen. The topic for the contest is, “How to solve the foreclosure crisis?” First place will receive $5,000 and second through fifth place will each receive $1,000 in scholarship monies. The top five plans will even be sent to congress.

 

The Coronado Neighborhood Council Scholarship
The Coronado Neighborhood Council is offering a scholarship to residents of Richmond, CA,  with preference given to students who live in the Coronado neighborhood in the South Richmond area. The Coronado Scholarship was established in 1975 to assist youth and adults in reaching their goals of receiving a college education.
 
Students who are awarded a scholarship will receive their award on October 23, 2009 during the Coronado Council’s Scholarship Awards Banquet at the Galileo Club in Richmond, CA. Please encourage your students, particularly those who live in Richmond and the Coronado area  to apply. The applications are posted in the CCC Scholarship Office located in the Student Life Center.  A big thanks  to Contra Costa College President McKinley Williams for providing the information on this scholarship.

 

The 2010 Kennedy King Scholarship

The 2010 Kennedy King scholarship application and related documents are now available in the CCC Scholarship Office located in the SA Building, Office C. T
he Kennedy-King Memorial Scholarship Fund annually awards two-year scholarships of $4,000 per year to members of minority groups that are underrepresented at four-year colleges and universities. These scholarships are awarded to students of proven financial need who are transferring from a Contra Costa community college to junior standing at four-year, accredited U.S. institutions in the fall, 2010 or spring, 2011. Scholarship funding will commence in the fall or spring after your acceptance
and enrollment in such institution. We are pleased that you wish to be considered for one of our scholarships.
 
DO YOU QUALIFY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP?
 
In order to do so, you must:
? be of African American, Latino, Native American (indicate tribe affiliation), or Pacific
Islander (native people of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, Tahiti, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, or
Fijian, Melanesian, Micronesian, or Polynesian) descent;
? be enrolled for the fall semester (or have completed your course work within the past year) at
Contra Costa, Diablo Valley or Los Medanos Colleges; and
? be eligible to transfer to a four-year institution with junior standing in the fall of 2010 or not
later than spring of 2011. If you do not transfer as a full time student (12 units) with
junior standing, your scholarship award may be forfeited.

The Selection Committee will select a number of finalists for interviews. If selected, you must attend
an interview held only on Saturday morning, March 27, 2010. You will be asked to bring copies of
various financial and other documents so that we may fairly evaluate your application. All information
given will be kept in strictest confidence.
