Board of Governors' Fee Waiver (BOGW)

State law requires that students attending California Community Colleges pay an enrollment fee for classes. The Board of Governors believes everyone should have the opportunity to attend college, so the California Community Colleges offer a fee waiver for eligible students.

The fee waiver program was designed for speed and efficiency.

BOGW is financial assistance that does not need to be repaid.

You may be eligible for a fee waiver even if you are not eligible for other financial aid.

The BOGW application is simple to complete.

BOGW applicants do not have to be enrolled in a minimum number of courses - whether you take 1 unit or 21 units, the enrollment fee may be waived.

BOGW applicants only need to apply once per academic year, which includes Summer, Fall and Spring..

You are eligible for a Board of Governors' Fee Waiver if you are a California resident and you meet any one of these three criteria:

  • You or your family are receiving public assistance from CalWorks, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or General Assistance/General Relief or have certification from the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
