Purpose of
Financial Aid
The purpose of financial aid at Contra Costa College is to assist students who have the ability to benefit from postsecondary instruction and who without financial support, would otherwise be unable to attend this institution.
To be eligible you must be enrolled in an eligible institution.The purpose is to help cover a portion of the school expenses; including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation. Most aid given at Contra Costa College is based on financial need. There are four types of aid given by the institution, grants, work-study, loans and scholarships.
GRANTS, financial aid that does not have to be repaid if you successfully complete the course. Grants are for undergraduate students and the amount is based on need, school cost, and enrollment status.
WORK-STUDY, money for educational expenses paid by the institution for on-campus or community-based work.
STUDENT LOANS, borrowed money from a private lender for educational expenses that must be repaid with interest to the lender or Department of Education.
SCHOLARSHIPS, money given to a student from a private donor for educational expenses. (See CCC Foundation for list of Scholarships and requirements).
