LOAN APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 Complete
(2009-2010) FAFSA Application. (*Make sure you
have marked ÒYESÓ to #27 on your Student
Aid Report (SAR) and Contra Costa College is listed as a school you will
attend.
STEP 2 Make
an appointment (MANDATORY) to meet with Staff
Member by calling the Office of Financial Assistance at 510-235-7800 x 4508 or
4509. Appointments for the 2009-2010
semesters will be available August 3, 2009.
STEP 3 Click on www.contracosta.edu/
Click
on drop box ÒQUICK LINKSÓ and click on Financial Aid Office
STEP 4
Click on Loan Entrance
Counseling/Loan Comparison Tool.
STEP 5 Click on
borrower log-in to sign in. You will need to create a user name &
password if you do not already have one.
STEP 6 Complete the entrance counseling test. **IMPORTANT** YOU MUST ÒPRINTÓ the results of your test score.
STEP 7 Scroll to
bottom of page click on link to take you to the Contra Costa College Loan
Comparison TOOL. Click on FIND LOANS.
Enter your loan amount, enter Òfreshman or sophomoreÓ in
the Òupcoming year in school.Ó enter ÒCalifornia for your state of
residence,Ó and your citizenship status. Click view loans. You now have
a list of lenders to do a loan comparison. When you have decided what lender
you wish to borrower your student loan from click on apply to the right
of the lenders name. Answer all questions, ELECTRONICALLY
SIGN THE MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE, and ÒPRINTÓ your promissory note. **IMPORTANT**
Make sure you submit your application and get a confirmation that you have completed the Loan Application.
STEP 8 Click
to download a REQUEST FOR FFELP LOAN FORM. Completely fill out the request.
STEP 9 Make
an appointment to meet with your Academic Counselor and have an Educational
Plan completed showing the Fall 2009 & Spring 2010 classes for the
Academic Year.
STEP 10
Bring the following (4) documents
to the Office of Financial Assistance.
INCOMPLETE
PAPERWORK WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
(1) Entrance Counseling test scores (see step
#6)
(2) Promissory Note (see step #7)
(3) Completed Request for FFLEP Loan form (see
step #8)
(4) Educational Plan completed by Academic
Counselor showing Fall 2009 & Spring 2010 classes (see step #9)
**FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL OF THE ABOVE PROCESS MAY RESULT IN A
DELAY IN THE LOAN PROCESSING!!**
