State funded Tech Prep Grant (high schools) activities are directed and monitored by state.  This grant’s primary goal is to support activities at the college and the local feeder high schools that help create a transition from high school to college including the development and implementation of Articulation Agreements.

Total Tech Prep Allocation for 2006-2007                          68,000

This grant’s primary focus this year is development and implementation of articulation agreements with the local high schools with a special new focus on high school academies.  This grant funds and supports the following activities in partnership with the West Contra Costa Unified School District’s School-to-Career Division. 

Fall Semester:  ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION DAY – We bring 200+ high school students to the college to see pre-selected vocational workshops put on by our vocational faculty. 

January:  TECHNOLOGY CAREERS CONFERENCE – 35 high tech firms put on workshops for 300 high school students. 

Spring Semester:  REGULAR HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION DAY – We bring 250+ high school students here to see pre-selected vocational workshops put on by our vocation faculty.  MIDDLE SCHOOL VISITATION DAY:  We bring 180+ middle school students to the college to visit various programs on our campus. 

Articulation Workshops:  We coordinate training workshops for both our college vocational faculty and the high school faculty to development agreementsThis grant also funds salaries to pay teachers to teach our college courses to high school students both on and off our campus.  This approach has proven to be very successful in recruiting students to enroll in additional courses here at CCC.
