Community Activities
The Richmond community and other surrounding cities in Contra Costa County require the presence of the college on many boards, both community and business. In addition, they require that the college partner with them on several projects. This attention to the community’s needs result in:
- Grants that community and businesses write and look to the college to provide training, other services and resources
- Grants that come from both the state and federal governments require pre-established business and community partnerships.
Contract Education: This function was addressed by the RTI but has been returned to the local colleges. However, a college representative will work with local businesses to design customized training programs for their employers.
High Schools: A VTEA funded counselor has set hours at each WCCUSD high school and does counseling and workshops to recruit students to CCC.
One Stop Center: A VTEA funded counselor has set hours at the San Pablo (and Richmond) One Stop Centers to provide information and recruit studentsto CCC.
